Very cool challenge. Sometimes you thrive with a mission rather than an endless stretch. I have a draft that needs my attention. I get into these seasons (he he) where I think I should be writing something different, like the feeling has passed, but I believe in the story I'm telling. And I actually have a specific reader in mind.
Oh, I have so many things that need my attention - projects around here are like playing hot potato! Substack, then NaNoWriMo, then work, then older project, then side project, then — wait, what was I working on again?
But having said all that, I am eager to write a new novel draft for the first time in a year.
A calendar doesn't help because what I described is kind of my everyday. I have a to-do list that I write up each night to help me make it through the next day!
I love this, and I love NaNo! Even in the years when I haven't done it, just the existence of NaNo always brings a certain amount of electricity and fun to writing in the month of November. Good luck!
I've also returned to Nano after taking last year off (way too much going on last year). I really need to push through the first draft of my current WIP. Started yesterday with 5030 words. Tuesdays are impossible for me, so I'll focus on writing lots other days! Good luck!
Oh wow, that's impressive! I managed 1800 words yesterday, but 1200 of those were after only about 4 hours of sleep so I think I did tolerably well all things told.
I've done NaNoWriMo the past 4 years and will be informally doing it this year (my third year in a row working on the same novel). I'm hoping to just get words down consistently and don't want the added work of having to maintain the word count on the NaNo site. Hopefully I will enter again officially with a new project next year.
That's awesome - and doing it informally still counts. Personally, I like the word count graph (it motivates me). But writing new words is always the best part.

Are you… me? 🤣
I need to get a writing calendar started for my projects and deadlines. I started using Google Keep which has been helpful.

Oh yes, I love the NaNo energy. It's even somewhat addictive!

I think you did admirably well!
