I've been in a slump where I've constantly wondered why I keep writing. It didn't help when life threw some massive curve balls at me (major surgery, my job loss, husband needing to job hunt.) The main thing keeping me from throwing in the town was stubbornness. And while I've had to set writing aside to heal, I don't want to quit it.

I hear you. There are times when I can't write. Maybe there's a lot going on, maybe I'm not feeling it, but it happens, and I try to be kind to myself and say, okay so I won't write today/this week etc. When I was in grad school, I didn't write much at all, nor did I when I did a cross country move. We have to take care of ourselves. But if we don't want to write (or do whatever we are trying) just because it's hard or whatever, it's good to remember that there are benefits if we keep going, and role models in real life and fiction that can help us get back in the saddle, so to speak, assuming that's what we want.

In your case, if your stubbornness is enough, then let it do its job. But if you have to take a step back because of all the stuff happening to you, that's okay too. :)
